Couples from US adopted twins from Ethiopia

Adam and Elizabeth Smith like being parents, and judging by their children Emma and Sam, they are pretty good at it ... so much so that they have decided to do it all again.

The family recently added twin sisters Mira Askale and Zoey Wolete to their number. The girls were born 10 months ago in Ethiopia. Their biological mother is a widow and has a six-year-old son. She reluctantly gave her daughters up for adoption because she knew she could not adequately provide for them and she wanted them to have the best life possible.

Enter the Smiths. Adam, who is a special needs teacher and coordinates Claiborn House, the Hudson School District’s transition house, is adopted himself along with one of his siblings. Elizabeth is a counselor at Hudson High School. They knew they from the beginning of their marriage that they wanted to adopt but then daughter Emma, 18, came along followed by son Sam, 15, and life got busy. But when Adam turned 40 a couple of years back, the couple decided if they were going to do it, they had better get started. More on HudsonStarObserver
