A man involved in murder\suicide is identified as Michael Gebreneguse (2nd Video)

A man believed to kill his girlfriend is now identified as 31 years old cab driver, Michael Gebreneguse, ABC affiliate Action News 13 reports. His girlfriend, stabbed to death, was found by her room mate. Police believe that Michael took his own life by jumping to a moving car on high traffic high way.

Ethiopian press: Egypt using Burundi Muslims to drum up support on Nile

Egypt is bribing officials of the East African country of Burundi in an effort to gain support on the Nile water issue, according to an Ethiopian newspaper.
The independent Jimma Times daily newspaper quoted anonymous media sources in Burundi as saying that Egypt was paying bribes and putting pressure on both Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) not to sign a new water-sharing treaty.

How to Speak Rastafarian English



Rastafarian English (or Iyaric) is an English dialect primarily spoken by Jamaican Rastafarians. It's much easier to learn than Jamaican English (or Jamaican Creole) because instead of being a whole different dialect, it is mainly a set of vocabulary that reflects Rasta beliefs by eliminating negative words (such as death and hate) and replacing them with positive ones (like live and love).

Zemen Bank raises interest rate as much as 5.75 for higher balances

Zemen Bank, a publicly owned Ethiopian lender, raised its deposit rate to 5.5 percent on balances above 25,000 Ethiopian birr ($1,500), according to an e-mailed statement today.
The announcement comes after the central bank raised the minimum deposit rate to 5 percent from 4 percent on Dec. 2.

Café Abyssinia opened in the early part of November at 3511 Magazine St., though the only evidence from the street is a large sign bearing the colors of the Ethiopian flag between Garden District Shoe Repair and a little soul food/snowball shop. The restaurant is set 30 or so yards from the street and housed in a small space that is clearly a repurposed apartment.
