The Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) said a study indicated that the country has capacity to generate over 60,000 MW electric power.

EEPCo announced plan to increase electric service coverage in the country to over 75 per cent during the coming five years from the present 41 per cent.

Misikir said activities are underway to make use of the potential to generate energy step by step.

Misikir said the Ashegoda Wind Power Project, which has capacity to generate 120MW energy is underway in the northern part of the country.
