The Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA) collected 11 billion birr (around 665 million US dollars at the current exchange rate) during the first quarter of 2010/11 fiscal year.
Briefing local media this afternoon ERCA’s Director, Melaku Fenta indicated that the total amount of money collected by the authority is 51 percent greater than the 2009/10 fiscal year same period.
“During the first quarter our plan was to collect 12 billion birr and a total of 54 billion birr at the end of the year. We have now attained 92 percent of our plan by collecting 11.07 billion birr,” he said.
