24 November 2010 RAS AL KHAIMAH(UAE) - The Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested an Ethiopian housemaid allegedly for stabbing her 52-year-old Emirati employer and the latter’s son with a knife.
Najil, who sustained minor wounds on both hands, said the maid stabbed his father in the neck and other parts of his body causing him big wounds and excessive bleeding.
He noted that his father was on rest at home for the last 15 days as he suffered from a heart disease. After the incident, he was rushed to Saqr Hospital . According to Najil, an argument started after his mother blamed the maid for spending almost an hour talking to her family in Ethiopia using their home telephone.
“As my father tried to intervene and stop the argument, the maid started uttering threatening words to my mother, came out of the kitchen with a knife and attacked my father,” added Najil.
He was in his room around 11pm when he heard his father screaming. He rushed to the house to see what
was happening.
“When I entered the house, I found my father bleeding and the maid was still holding the knife as she was threatening to kill my mother if she dared to touch her,” he said. Najil managed to grab the knife from the maid but suffered wounds on both hands during
the scuffle.
The police immediately arrived on the scene after being informed by the family and arrested the maid, who was later referred to the Public Prosecution. The police have urged residents to be very careful when hiring maids from agencies and ensure that they get enough information about the maids’ background.
In August this year, the Ras Al Khaimah Police had arrested a 21-year-old Ethiopian maid for allegedly murdering a Moroccan woman and her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter in their apartment in Nakheel area.
